The Avenues is a separate building designed for children to experience the excitement of the specialized classrooms outside of their homerooms. Preschoolers and school agers enjoy these classes in small groups with a subject specific teacher.

The James River Rapids:

Physical activity using a traverse climbing wall, basketball goals, scooters, ping-pong table and more!

The River City Café:
Hands-on kid’s kitchen where basic cooking and food preparation are taught by making homemade foods.

The Monument Avenue Art Studio:
A full-time art teacher provides lessons on pottery, sewing, wood working, painting, crafts and more.

Theatre Row Drama Center with Stage:
Self-confidence and creative thinking skills are developed through improvisation and public speaking

Research Road Science Lab:
Science gets creative with experiments, STEM projects, group collaborations, gardening and LEGO® robotics

64West Game Area:
Brainteasers and team building skills with board games, chess tournaments, domino races and LEGO® building challenges

The Loft:
Look through the lens with digital cameras and computers to explore the worlds of photography, journalism and advertising.

Capitol City Library:
Enhance a love for reading through hands-on activities involving authors, illustrators and favorite books from the 50 states.

Carytown Dance Studio:
Participation in music and dance that reflects song and dance from all parts of the USA. We also offer dance classes in this space for our preschoolers through the school year.
